Modern Day Magi

Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion of the matter: Fear God and keep his commandments, for this is the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment, including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil. - Ecclesiastes 12:13-14............. Now the Bereans were of more noble character than the Thessalonians, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the Scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. - Acts 17:11

a jack of all trades...

It has recently come to my attention that the well known phrase "Jack of all trades but master of none" in a misquote of Benjamin Franklin. He actually said that a cultured person is a "Jack of all trades but a master of ONE."

This is an interesting idea, a cultured person therefore should know something about everything and everything about something. (Sounds a little like what I would expect a Magi to be like.)

As a Christian my area of specialisation should be the Bible as it is the inspired and infallable word of God himself. Thus this blog will tend to focus on matters of Christian doctorine, Christian History and Scripture. I will hopefully not neglect my other duty as a Magi to know something about everything else so I hope to blog my endevours into other areas as well.

That quote makes much more sence the way Benjamin Franklin meant to say it.

    You wrote:

How true the bible is all about Jesus on every page. How accurately Jesus spoke to the Pharasees saying something like this

"....you search the scriptures thinking that in them you will have eternal life yet it is these that speak about me and you are unwilling to come to me so that you may have life.."

Looking forward to reading some more posts

Can you please tell me where you found the misquote. It has come to my attention as well and I love what the "corrected" meaning takes on, but I want to know that my sources are valid and vetted before passing this along to others and cannot find any support showing this was a misquote. Thank you for whatever help you can offer!
